Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions outline the general framework under which psychotherapy services are offered. By engaging in therapy, clients agree to these terms alongside the associated Privacy Policy. This practice provides psychotherapy services to adults aged 18 and over only.
2. Professional Framework
Therapy is provided in accordance with the ethical principles and professional standards of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and relevant UK legislation. The therapeutic relationship is based on respect, collaboration, and professional boundaries.
3. Nature of Therapy
Psychotherapy is a confidential and exploratory process which aims to support psychological wellbeing and personal development. Therapy does not guarantee specific outcomes, and the pace and focus of work will vary depending on individual needs and circumstances.
4. Format of Sessions
Therapy may be offered online, face-to-face, or in a hybrid format. Online sessions rely on a stable internet connection and an appropriate private space. While reasonable steps are taken to ensure continuity, technical difficulties may occasionally occur.
5. International Clients
For clients based outside the United Kingdom, therapy is governed by UK law and professional standards. Clients are responsible for ensuring that participation in psychotherapy is permitted within their country of residence.
6. Confidentiality and Its Limits
All information shared in therapy is treated as confidential. Confidentiality may be breached only where there is a serious risk of harm to the client or others, where safeguarding concerns arise, where disclosure is required by law, or where the client has given explicit consent. Wherever possible, any necessary disclosure will be discussed with the client beforehand.
7. Data Protection
Personal data is processed and stored in line with UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Further details are provided in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
8. Appointments and Attendance
Sessions are arranged by mutual agreement. Clients are encouraged to attend sessions punctually and to communicate as early as possible if they are unable to attend a scheduled session.
9. Endings
Clients may choose to end therapy at any time. Where possible, planned endings are encouraged to support reflection and closure. Therapy may also be brought to an end by the therapist if it is no longer clinically appropriate or if professional boundaries cannot be maintained.
10. Crisis and Emergency Support
Psychotherapy sessions are not a crisis or emergency service. Clients experiencing acute distress or immediate risk are encouraged to contact local emergency services, their GP, or an appropriate crisis support organisation.
11. Concerns and Complaints
Clients are encouraged to raise any concerns about therapy directly within sessions where possible. If concerns cannot be resolved, further guidance may be sought through appropriate professional or regulatory bodies.
12. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be reviewed and updated periodically. The most current version will be made available upon request or via the practice website.
